ISU Biotechnology Public Education Program  Iowa State University Office of Biotechnology Public Education program has been conducting biotechnology training for teachers in summer workshops since 1988. K-16 teachers, pre-service teachers, extension professionals, and other educators who want to teach about the science that leads to new biotechnology developments and the issues surrounding them can improve their skills at the Biotechnology Outreach Education Center (BOEC). Established in 2000, the BOEC hosts education workshop and mini-courses throughout the school year for educators. All Iowa teachers who have completed workshop courses are entitled to free materials to conduct one or more of 26 classroom activities and 9 curriculum units.
