| Southwest Iowa Quality Improvement Project for Child Care Providers |
Child Care Providers, from center-based and family-based
care, participate in a 36-hour training series designed to
improve their quality rating for entry into the new
state-wide Child Care Quality Rating System (QRS). Providers
attend a 4-hour workshop on math/science learning
experiences for early childhood that involves a
pre-assessment of their math/science learning center and an
improved post-assessment of the learning center following
instruction. Each provider receives post-training quality
improvement dollars to order materials/equipment to raise
their individual scores on the math/science items on their
respective Environment Rating Scale Instrument (the Family
Day Care Rating Scale (FDCRS) and the revised Early
Childhood Rating Scale (ECERS- R).
