| Environmental Issues Instruction (eii) |
Environmental Issues Instruction is:
- A process
- Experiential teaching/learning
- A model of thematic instruction
- Teaching ecological concepts by integrating disciplines
- Analysis of issues
- Responsible environmental action
The EII program provides in-service training of K-12
teachers, classroom and field application and evaluation.
The program leads teachers to integrate science, math and
other curricula by using the EII model. The EII units are
taught as a demonstration of this integration. Teaching is
approached in a collaborative setting with hands-on
activities in cooperative groups. Ecological foundations are
investigated, questioned and analyzed. Mathematical data is
collected, quantified and interpreted.
