UNI Middle Level Education Major  The Middle School Teacher Endorsement at UNI has prepared teachers of grades 5-8 in the areas of math, science, social studies, and language arts (The Generalist MLE Endorsement 21D)for the past 10 years. The next phase in the preparation of Middle School Teachers in Iowa allows students to become "highly" qualified in two or more areas of subject area specialization by taking at least 12 semester hours of coursework in a specialization area such as math and science, AND at least 12 semester hours of coursework in effective programs and practices of middle level schools.
