| THE WEBQUEST PROJECT: A PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN MIDDLE LEVEL PRESERVICE TEACHERS AND MIDDLE SCHOOL INSERVICE TEACHERS AND STUDENTS |
Since 2003, the University of Northern Iowa (UNI) has been involved in a partnership with Central Middle School (CMS) in Waterloo, Iowa, to benefit UNI preservice teachers and CMS students and teachers. Cooperating with CMS teachers, the UNI preservice teachers learn middle level curriculum by creating WebQuest units, inquiry based tools in which learners interact with information from resources on the internet. The preservice teachers teach the units to the CMS students. The units are based on a science topic the CMS teachers provide to enhance their classroom curriculum. These interdisciplinary units contain science, mathematics, and literacy standards.
