Early College Pilot Program  Indian Hills Community College is offering an Early College Pilot Program that will allow high school juniors and seniors to earn college credit in selected technology programs at IHCC. Participating students can earn up to 40 college credits and complete a diploma in electronics/computer occupations. This program will provide STEM educational opportunities for secondary students and address workforce shortages in areas where there is a great demand for high skill, high wage employees. This program will include three mathematics courses, technology courses related to electronics and computers, and courses related to the science of electricity, electronic circuits, fluid power, and electro-magnetism.

Evans Middle School Chemistry Initiative  6th grade students from Evans Middle School spend a day with our Chemistry faculty and students to learn new techniques in Chemistry.

Iowa Biotech Workforce Development Project  This project's goals are to grow the biotechnology workforce base through several activities (all have some STEM applications): Outreach to middle and high school students and the public about the biotech field utilizing a 3D virtual reality, DNA activities, and bioprocessing presentation. Offer professional development opportunities with activities to educators in the areas of science and technology (biotechnology). Develop and deliver training opportunities for person in the bioprocessing and ethanol industries. Develop curriculum for biotechnology technicians in the area of proteomics.

National Center for the Biotechnology Workforce in Agricultural Bioprocessing and Renewable Fuels  The goals of this project include: co-sponsoring the Heartland AEA SEMI lab to help bring biotechnology activities to schools around Iowa; sponsor biotech educational activities at regional and national events; provide product development and process assistance for bioprocessing entrepreneurs and businesses with IHCC students, enhancing their educational opportunities. Work with industry to develop skill standards and training for bioprocess technicians, ethanol technicians, and plant operators.

Recycling  Dr. Lee Wymore and the IHCC Science Club have established a recycling program. The purpose of this effort by students is to raise awareness for the need to recycle.
