Bioscience/Biotech Initiatives  NIACC has developed an A.A.S. in Industrial Technology, with an option in Bioprocessing, which is designed to meet the needs of biotech (and other) industries for manufacturing technicians. NIACC also has a transfer curriculum (A.A.) for students interested in pursuing a bachelor's degree or higher in bioscience. In addition, the college has an active working relationship with high school teachers and has sponsored professional development activities in bioscience.

Computer Science/Information Technology Programs  NIACC offers an Associate of Arts (A.A.) and Associate of Science (A.S.) program that prepares students for transfer to a four-year institution. Students who plan to major in computer science and related fields can complete a sequence of courses at NIACC that will prepare them for junior-level work in their field of study. NIACC also offers Information Technology career programs in E-Commerce, Web Design, Graphic Communications, Information Systems Technology, Management Information Systems, PC Technician, Network Administration, Cyber Security, and Software Testing.

Engineering Transfer Program (A.A./A.S.)  NIACC offers an Associate of Science (A.S.) program that prepares students for transfer to Engineering programs at four-year institutions. The curriculum includes math, science, and introductory engineering courses that help prepare students for junior level work in their field of study.

Instructional Innovations in Math, Science, and Technology  NIACC regularly seeks to enhance teaching and learning in math and science. At the present time, math and science faculty have received NIACC Innovation Grants to (1) incorporate new instructional technology into classroom math and science courses and (2) to incorporate new instructional technology into online math courses.

Learning Communities in Math, Science, and Technology  NIACC is seeking to enhance student learning through the use of learning communities. Recent examples involving math and science courses include: (1) A learning community on environmental policy and environmental science; (2) a learning community between engineering and composition I, to assist students in writing engineering reports; and (3) a learning community between math and elementary teachers and inquiry into life science.

Math and Science for Elementary Teachers  NIACC has created a Math for Elementary Teachers course and an Inquiry into Life Science course to strengthen the math and science skills of students preparing to teach the elementary level. The courses were developed with the help of a National Science Foundation grant, and they have been recognized by the NSF and Phi Theta Kappa as a "Best Practice in Teacher Education.

School Partnerships in Math, Science, and Technology  NIACC enrolls qualified high school seniors in math and science courses under the Postsecondary Enrollment Options (PSEO) Act. NIACC offers selected math and science courses at area high schools. The NIACC math and science faculties meet regularly with area high school math and science teachers to help promote math and science education in North Iowa.
